Toronto's municipal government planning to phase out its fax machines
Fax machines at city hall will soon go the way of teletype machines, pneumatic tube transit systems and other antique modes of inter-office communication starting in 2022 ...
This shouldn't be too much of an effort, right? Surely, they only have just a few of those machines lying around.
... 1,355 fax lines currently in use in Toronto ...
Oops. So, are they planning to stop using fax altogether?
Not exactly:
The plan is to transition the entire system to a virtual fax solution
Why?
The plan deals with privacy issues in emailing scanned documents, or sending private documents to an office fax machine.
