How to send a test fax
Follow these steps to verify your fax machine works correctly.
1. Prepare a test document
Create a single or multi-page black & white document. Include text, lines, and small details to test clarity.
2. Dial a test number
Pick any Faxbeep number above and dial it from your fax machine. International? Use the full number with country code.
3. Wait for confirmation
Your fax machine should print a confirmation page within a minute or two. Allow 1–2 minutes for processing on our end.
4. View your fax online
Visit the homepage to find your fax in the gallery. Check quality, orientation, and sender ID.
What to check in your test results
Once your fax appears online, review the following:
- Text quality — Is the text sharp and legible, or blurry and faded?
- Orientation — Did the page come through right-side up?
- Sender ID — Does your machine's name or number display correctly in the header?
- Page count — If you sent multiple pages, did they all arrive?
- Margins — Is any content cut off at the edges?
If something looks wrong, it usually points to a setting on your fax machine rather than a line problem. Try cleaning the scanner glass, adjusting resolution to "fine," or checking your machine's header setup.
Privacy note: Any fax sent to this service is publicly visible for 30 days, after which it is automatically deleted. You can request early removal at the bottom of any fax view page.

No — black & white only. This is a limitation of the fax protocol itself, not our service. Color faxes are extremely rare in practice.
This service tests sending only. To test receiving, you need someone to send a fax to your machine. See our dummy fax number page for options like HP and Canon echo-back services that send a fax back to you.
