Personal information we collect

Device information

When you visit the Site, we automatically collect certain information about your device, including information about your web browser, IP address, time zone, and some of the cookies that are installed on your device. Additionally, as you browse the Site, we collect information about the individual web pages you view, what websites or search terms referred you to the Site, and information about how you interact with the Site. We refer to this automatically-collected information as "Device Information."

We collect Device Information using the following technologies:

Log files track actions occurring on the Site, and collect data including your IP address, browser type, Internet service provider, referring/exit pages, and date/time stamps.

Fax information

When you send a test fax to one of our test numbers, we collect the fax content (page images), the number of pages, and sender metadata such as your fax number and sender ID. Your fax number is masked on the Site for privacy, though your sender ID may be visible within the fax itself. We refer to this as "Fax Information."

All faxes received by the Service are publicly visible on the Site for a minimum of thirty days before being automatically deleted. If you need a fax removed sooner, you can request its removal from the fax detail page. A confirmation email will then be sent to the email address you provide, and you must click the link in that email to complete the removal. Do not send confidential, sensitive, or private documents to the Service.

When we talk about "Personal Information" in this Privacy Policy, we are talking about both Device Information and Fax Information.

How we use your personal information

We use the Fax Information to operate the fax testing service — specifically, to receive, process, display, and store your test faxes so that you can verify your fax machine is sending correctly.

We use the Device Information to help us screen for potential risk and fraud (in particular, your IP address), and more generally to improve and optimize our Site (for example, by generating analytics about how visitors browse and interact with the Site).

Sharing your personal information

We share your Personal Information with third parties who help us process your Personal Information, as described above.

Third parties and sub-processors

We use third-party vendors and hosting partners to provide the necessary hardware, software, networking, storage, and related technology required to run the Service. This is the list of all sub-processors who handle personal data for our Service:

Hetzner – Cloud service provider
Laravel Forge – Server management platform
Google Analytics – Site visitor analytics. You can opt-out of Google Analytics here.

We may also share your Personal Information to comply with applicable laws and regulations, to respond to a subpoena, search warrant or other lawful request for information we receive, or to otherwise protect our rights.

Do not track

Please note that we do not alter our Site's data collection and use practices when we see a Do Not Track signal from your browser.

Your rights

If you are a European resident, you have the right to access personal information we hold about you and to ask that your personal information be corrected, updated, or deleted. If you would like to exercise this right, please contact us.

Additionally, if you are a European resident we note that we are processing your information in order to pursue our legitimate business interests listed above. Please note that your information may be transferred outside of Europe, including to Canada and the United States.

Data retention

Fax content is retained for a minimum of thirty days and then automatically deleted. You may request early removal of your fax from its detail page; removal requires email confirmation. Device Information and log data are retained as required for legal and business purposes.

Changes

We may update this privacy policy from time to time in order to reflect, for example, changes to our practices or for other operational, legal or regulatory reasons.
